Understanding !

Joe was looking in the mirror after his bath as he like to do and I told him to point at the little baby in the mirror - he did ! It was un prompted - I wasn’t showing him how to point so he really is starting to understand things.

I then asked him to wave at the little baby and again he waved !

I can’t believe how quickly he is learning - If only I could learn that fast !!

His standing and walking is also coming on lots - he marches around the flat just holding on to my finger very lightly. I think it’s just a confidence thing and he’ll start trying to walk unaided. You can stand him up and let go and he is really stable now for a good few seconds. All very exciting for us!

Clapping

Joe learnt to clap at the end of last week. It’s really cute - and a bit disarming when you’ve just told him off for doing something naughty so he sits on the floor looking up at you with a confused expression and clapping gently - impossible to be cross with him then!

He is still practising standing up without holding on to anything and he can stand for quite a long time sometimes. Othertimes he goes into crazy pelvic thrust mode (think his nappy gets out of control or something) and plops onto his bum!

We finally got a baby carrier yesterday (after weeks of deliberation as to which one to get and then a long wait while it was sent to the wrong address) so can get out on some proper walks with him now. At least we can when we have a car again as ours has died a death!

Pointing & Splashing

It’s funny because Joe seems to suddenly learn a whole load of new things all in one go!

He’s now started pointing at all sorts of things - at first it was fairly random and we only recently realised that he is actually pointing at things he wants now, as well as random things that interest him - it’s quite cute!

In the bath the other day he also worked out he could make a splash - I think he likes the sound as much as the water, so now he sits in the bath and splashes madly - soaking us!

Acually he is really into sounds - he is really good on his little xylophone, gently tapping the note to make the sound (As well as giving it a good belt at times!). He like to experiment at bangging everything on the floor to see what noise it makes - not a quiet houshold at the moment.

More Teeth

Joe’s fourth tooth is now visible (it’s his top right tooth). I can’t even remember when the top left tooth came through - sometime between Xmas and now I guess!!

Joe finally started putting on weight again after a tummy bug the week before Si’s birthday. He’s now around 8 Kilos which is still light for his age and height but at least it’s a move in the right direction. We are desperate for him to reach nine kilos so that we can buy him a forward facing car seat as he’s far to long for his baby seat now!
